The story of theVilla Song Hotel in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam is an interesting tale. The property is located in district 2. The area is known for all of the international schools which bring in lots of foreigners. The area is fairly peaceful and mostly residential which makes for a very relaxing atmosphere. From the center of Ho Chi Minh, it took me about 30 minutes to arrive at the property.
Previously, the building was a house and about 10 years ago it was converted to a boutique hotel with 23 rooms. None of the rooms are the same as you can imagine and it’s got a lot of quirks.
I was greeted with friendly faces and a welcome drink to get the ball rolling. I was informed that my room was upstairs and I had to walk by the pool to get there. I walked up a spiral staircase and entered my new home for the following nights. The room was large and felt very homey. Spacious indeed with a comfortable bed and a great desk where I could work. The hotel offers a complimentary minibar, which they keep stocked with several beverages.
The beautiful bathroom was equipped with a bathtub but no shower, I later learned that my room was the only room without a shower.
Walking back down the spiral staircase, I went over to check out the pool. The pool is large and has lots of comfortable lounge chairs surrounding it. There’s a small gym overlooking the pool that has two cardio machines and some weights. The Villa Song staff is always nearby if you should need anything.
For the turn-down service, they left a small treat on my bed-side table. How thoughtful!
After the first night, the main event had finally arrived, breakfast! It was à la carte and equipped with Vietnamese food as well as Western dishes. The breakfast was included on my room so I was able to order whatever I wanted! I couldn’t decide between Western or Vietnamese food so I decided to go with both. This was a pro-move that I would definitely recommend! Every single item I sunk my teeth into was delicious! I also ordered a lovely Vietnamese coffee, packed full of sweetened condensed milk. Utterly brilliant!
Overall, I really enjoyed the quaintness of this property. Given the fact that it was a home before made it feel very comfortable. It’s also important to mention the hotel also offers a shuttle boat to the city center which makes it very convenient to explore the rest of Ho Chi Minh. All in all, I definitely enjoyed and would recommend this place.
